Case Study – Balcony Waterproofing – Crown Casino Perth

A multi-story hotel and residential development required a compliant, flexible waterproofing solution for tiled balconies exposed to wind-driven rain and thermal movement. With living spaces directly below, long-term integrity and crack-bridging performance were critical to prevent moisture ingress and costly remediation.

Enviro 500EXT was selected as the primary waterproofing membrane beneath the tiled finish. Its elastomeric formulation provided excellent adhesion to the prepared substrate while accommodating structural movement and minor cracking. The seamless, liquid-applied system allowed effective detailing around balcony door thresholds, outlets, and perimeter upturns are common failure points in residential construction.

Installed in accordance with relevant standards for external wet areas, the membrane was fully cured prior to tile application, creating a durable, bonded barrier beneath the screed and tile system.

The completed installation delivered a compliant, long-term waterproofing solution designed to protect the structure below while supporting the finished architectural aesthetic above.
