The 14-level hospital, designed by HDR Rice Daubney, is the centrepiece of the Government’s $1 billion-plus Westmead Redevelopment.
Key features of the new building include two new emergency departments – one for adults and one for children, with dedicated entry points, 20 new operating / interventional suites with highly specialised technology and equipment, a new Cardiac Comprehensive Care Centre (CCC), over 300 new patient rooms, and new education, training and research areas and facilities.
Envirosystems Hydrostatic 1 solution was installed in the early works stage to the lift pits at the Westmead Hospital.
Based on advanced cross-linking polymer technology, Enviro Hydrostatic 1 a single component flexible polymer modified cementitious membrane. The addition of water to the Hydrostatic 1 powder forms a high-quality, liquid membrane system. Hydrostatic 1 should be applied over concrete, masonry and natural stone substrates. The cured film provides a watertight membrane that is permeable to vapour diffusion and offers excellent freeze-thaw durability, as well as outstanding adhesion properties.
